Upcoming Workshops

This spring, join me at Asheville Print Studio and Gallery, located in the River Arts District in Asheville, NC for a one-day bookmaking workshop. Classes are open to all experience levels and beginners are welcome! These workshops are a great way to be introduced to bookmaking and book arts, learn about materials and begin building basic bookbinding skills. Follow the buttons below for more information on the workshops and Asheville Print Studio.

  • March 25th - Possibilities of the Pamphlet

This introductory bookbinding class showcases the many possibilities the pamphlet stitch has to offer. Students will learn the 3-hole, 5-hole, chain pamphlet stitch, and double pamphlet with paper wrapper. These soft-cover bindings make great pocket-size notebooks perfect for jotting down to-do-lists, notetaking on nature walks, or to use for sketching. Students will explore different types of papers and leave the class with 4 binding variations of the pamphlet stitch!

  • April 29th - All About Accordions

In this introductory bookmaking class students will learn a variety of methods for folding and constructing Accordion books. This simple, yet intriguing book structure offers a unique format for creating narrative and developing imagery. Are you a printmaker with piles of old printing proofs lying about? Fashioning them into an Accordion book will bring new life and a new story to those forgotten prints. Students will learn hard and soft cover attachments and be exposed to a variety of papers. We will discuss the process of creating content for our accordions through writing, drawing, painting, collage, and paper cutting.
